The hospital located on North Boag Road, T Nagar, Chennai has an inpatient facility of 22 beds, and access to doctors with over 30 years of experience. Shanta Ayurveda Hospital provides all kinds of Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatments including Pizhichil, Navarakizhi, Podikhizi, Dasamooladhara, Pichu, Tailadhara, Kadivasthi, Nasyam, Thapapothichil, Ksheeradhoomam, Takradhara, Shirodhara and Udwathanam. The Origins

The founder, the late Arya Vaidyan, P .V. Rama Varier, born in a distinguished and scholarly family in 1908, was a man of immense knowledge with great compassion and love for mankind. A humanitarian, philosopher, scholar and physician par excellence Varierstarted practising Ayurveda after graduating from the Ayurveda College, Kottakkal. In 1943, he independently set out to propagate Ayurveda and establish the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP) in Coimbatore. In 1959 he started an Ayurveda Hospital which is presently known as The Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam and Research Institute.

Currently run by Sri. P. R. Krishna Kumar, the head of the AVP Group leads a zealous quest for excellence, like his father and founder of AVP, both in service and products. He is an eminent national and international figure in the field of traditional medicines.

Leadership

The hospital is headed by Prof. Dr K.T.Jayakrishnan, Chief Medical Officer, Former Medical Superintendent of Ayurveda College, Coimbatore and Sri Jayandra Saraswathi Ayurveda College, Chennai. He is well supported by competent and well-trained Ayurveda physicians and therapeutic assistants providing personal care to the patients
